The solution is sterilized by autoclaving and the insulin and penicillin are added aseptically immediately before administration; 4 liters of the solution are given daily. It has a total calorific value of 2100 calories and provides physiologically balanced proportions of nutritional elements to be given parenterally to the patient who is unable to eat. |
