The stearic acid is dissolved in the alcohol at 35-40C, as it is not soluble inn 90% aqueous ethanol at room temperatures. The propylene glycol is added and the solution cooled to 30C. The Zein G200 is added slowly with good agitation, and stirred until dissolved. If desired, the formulation may be further diluted with 90% aqueous ethanol.
A suitable alcohol-soluble dye may be added for colored tablets.
No.2 A 5% aqueous solution of polyvinyl alcohol gives a firmer tablet than does starch or dextrin; 20 grains is used for 100 of product. |
