These adhesives are compounded by successively adding the caustic soda and Penacolite Resin R-2170 solutions to half of the water and then adding the formaldehyde. This solution should be maintained at 70-80F.
The remaining water is added to the mixed latices. the resulting resin solution is then added to the diluted latex with agitation. The dip may be used immediately, but adhesion improves with aging. Adhesives for natural or SBR stocks are normally aged for 2-24 hours. |
