When paper is saturated with self-crosslinking polymers such as "Rhoplex" P-491 or "Rhoplex" TR-440, these polymers may be catalyzed with 0.5 percent ammonium nitrate solids on total bath weight. The same level of catalyst is effective with thermosetting acrylic polymers such as "Rhoplex" AC-201 and "Rhoplex" AC-658. In the bonding of nonwoven fabrics, optimum rate of crosslinking is obtained when ammonium nitrate is used at 0.5% solids on total bath weight. This concentration has been found effective with "Rhoplex" TR-653 and "Rhoplex" HA-8, for example. |
