Charge asphalt into 150 gal portable kettle and heat to 450F. in about 1 hr and hold until melted out. cool to 400F. and at safe distance from open fires, add mineral spirits and xylol with frequent stirring to cut in well. This will give about 118 gal of Black Asphaltum Solution of good brushing consistency. Will air dry to touch in about 4 hr and will dry hard overnight. This will be about 60% solids and will have weight/gal of about 8 lb. |
