Heat Part A to 80 C in a steam-jacketed kettle and hold. Add the water of Part B to another suitable steam-jacketed kettle and heat to 80 C. Slowly add the other ingredients of Part B, except ammonium hydroxide (30%) while stirring. When all the ingredients of Part B, except ammonium hydroxide (30%), have been added homogenize this phase until it thickens. Add the pigments of Part C to the kettle containing Part B and homogenize. In a separate vessel heat propylene glycol of Part D to 80 C. Slowly add the other ingredients of Part D while mixing. When the ingredients of Part D are in solution add this phase to Parts B and C while mixing. Now add the ammonium hydroxide (30%) to the mixture of Parts B, C, and D while mixing. Add Parts B, C, and D to Part A, all at 80 C, while mixing. When all the phases have been combined and the batch is uniform, quickly cool using chilling water in order to retard evaporation oof the ammonium hydroxide (30%). |
