Add water to 18 in. from top, heat to 90F., add 80 to 100 lb. "ASP" 400, and mix 5 minutes. Add 485 lb. corrugating starch, mix 5 minutes, add 11 lb. borax #5 mol, and mix 5 minutes. Slowly drop contents of upper mixer into lower mixer (Should require 20 to 30 minutes). Add water, if necessary, to 8 in. from top. Check viscosity. If viscosity is above 40 seconds at 100 to 110F., add water to 4 in. from top, if necessary, to adjust viscosity to 35 to 40 seconds. Should viscosity be below 35 or above 40 seconds at the 6 in. level, increase or decrease the starch in upper mixer by 5 or 10 lb. Pump to storage.
Temperature of the starch in the upper mixer should be less than 130F.
before dropping into lower mixer.
Viscosity of finished paste should be 31 to 34 seconds. Temperature should be 100 to 110F. |
