If cost is of primary importance ordinary 100% ionone may be used, together with a good synthetic bergamot either as an extender or a complete replacement for the natural oil. To obtain a sweel floral background about 3 to 5% of ylang-ylang oil and smaller amounts of the natural absolutes of cassie, mimosa, jasmine and violet leaves will be most beneficial. Again if cost prohibits the inclusion of these costly natural materials, many excellent specialty replacements are available and can be used to great advantage. For cheaper versions use may be made of such aromatics as anisic aldehyde, benzyl acetate, terpineol and its esters, phenylethyl alcohol and esters, also traces of lauryl aldehyde in 10% solution. Fixation will largely be taken care of by the natural absolutes but in their absence and also to supplement them, about 1 to 5% of sandalwood, orris resinoid, musk ambrette and ketone, or vanillin will prove of value.
