Mix the methyl cellulose with half the water at boiling temperature;
let stand for 20 min with occasional agitation; then add the remainder
of the watr at room temperature or lower. Mix the benzyl benzoate,
hydrous wool fat, glyceryl monostearate, triethanolamine and carbitol
and heat gently. When lukewarm, add to the cellulose mixture.

About 150 g. is required per patient. The entire body is rubbed with soft soap, special attention being given to parts usually infested. The patient then soaks in a warm bath (100F.) for 10 min, rubbing himself during the bath. While still wet, the body is brushed all over with the lotion for 5 min, special attention again being given to affected parts.
The patient then rests, allowing the body to dry, then continues the brushing another 5 min. The body is next gently dried with a towel and the patient dresses in the same clothes worn before treatment. After 24 hr another bath is taken and clean clothes put on. Underclothes are washed and preferably boiled. Bedclothes are boiled or otherwise sterilized. |
