Dry Cleaning Concentrates |

For efficient action a dry cleaning bath must contain sufficient
water to remove "sweet" spots without affecting the sizing or body of
the fabric. The use of synthetic detergents, or a mixture of them, in
dry cleaning concentrates is a convenient way of carrying water into the
cleaning bath. More water can be brought into the cleaning bath this way
than by using soap and a solvent coupling agent.
The following is one suggested formulation
Sodium Nitrite/0.8
Oleic Acid |

Mix anionic 7 and nonionic NPX. Add the sodium nitrite, amine, and oleic acid and stir until all of the nitrite is dissolved. Stir in the naphtha. If the mixture is not clear, add a small amount of oleic acid to produce clarity. This formulation contains about 30% water but will not couple any added water into the naphtha cleaning bath. |
