Preparation of No.1 1. Mix well "TERGITOL" anionic 7 and "TERGITOL" nonionic NPX.
2. Add the sodium nitrite, amine, and oleic acid and stir until all of the nitrite is dissolved.
3. Stir in the naphtha. If the mixture is not clear, add a small amount of oleic acid to produce clarity.
Preparation of Nos.2 and 3.
1. Mix the naphtha and oleic acid, add the mixed isopropanolamine and stir until clear.
2. Dissolve the sodium nitrite in "TERGITOL" 7, add it to the naphthasoap solution, and stir until a clear solution is obtained. If the solution is not clear, add small amounts of oleic acid, stirring well between each addition, until it becomes clear.
All of these detergents are soluble in naphtha. Detergent NO.1 contains about 25% water, detergent No.2 contains about 32% water and No.3 contains about 15% water. Both No.2 and No.2 will couple added water into the naphtha, but No.2 will couple about twice as much as No.3.
