The wax, emulsifier and 25% of the water are charged into a kettle and heated until the wax has completely melted. Boiling of the mixture will often produce a good emulsion, but mechanical agitation is preferably applied at this time. The emulsification is completed as soon as uniform mixing has taken place. The remainder of the cool water is then added, and after mixing, no further processing is required. The above formulation may be extended with 10% shellac solubilized with ammonia, if desired.
When mixtures of waxes or other components are to be inncorporated, the oily materials can be melted and mixed together in the kettle. Water can then be added as in the above procedure. |
