The waxes are melted with the "Geigy Amine" S and the acetic acid is added, followed by one-fifth of the water kept at a boil. A gel forms, to which the remainder of the hot water is added rapidly. The emulsion is homogenized above 75C and cooled immediately thereafter and as quickly as possible to prevent growth of particle size. This emulsion is liquid and may be stored indefinitely at low temperatures or subjected to repeated freezing and thawing without "splitting". The high temperature stability of this emulsion may be increased further by using more candelilla wax and/or more "Geigy Amine" S. |
