Major oil companies have experienced outstanding success using "Armeen" C as a corrosion inhibitor for casing-head gasoline condensers.
A typical example is a west-coast condenser where corrosion was heavy enough to cause extensive damage to equipment as well as frequent and costly shutdowns for cleaning. The tubes actually accumulated so much residue that it could be removed with a shovel. Eventually condensers were replaced every 18 months at a cost of about $10,000. In an effort to check this situation, "Armeen" C was injected into the system at a rate of 10 ppm. When the tubes were removed for inspection there was no trace of corrosion residue. In fact, they were so clean it appeared as though they has been steam cleaned. In addition, the throughput of the line has increased 20% since the introduction of "Armeen" C. Company corrosion engineers now estimate that, by use of this inhibitor, condensers will last 10 years. |
