Where high green strength is a requisite, 5 lb. of southern bentonite can be added to the mix. Improvement in green strength may also be obtained by substituting some fine sand (130 to 150 A.F.S.) for the regular sand. For example, substituting 100 lb. of fine sand in the mix will improve both green strength and flowability. Sticking in the core box will also be minimized. the addition of bentonite in "Resimene" 970 core mixes also decreases collapsability of the cores on shake out. |
