"AEROSIL" must be well dispersed. The usual additions are 1 to 2%, based on the total weight of the coating.
For example, the viscosity of an unsaturated polyester test system is increased from 130-150 cp to 1600-1700 cp with the addition of onyl 1.6% "AEROSIL" 380 and optimal dispersion.
"AEROSIL" 200, based on the weight of the total system. In a nitrocellulose lacquer used for the test purposes, 2% "AEROSIL" 200, again based on the total weight, raises the viscosity from 130 sec. to 185 sec., DIN cup No.4 (DIN 53211). (corresponds to 160 to 222 sec., Ford cup No.4, ASTM D 1200) |
