Operating Parameters: Operating parameters for the acid chloride systems differ somewhat, depending upon the particular proprietary electrolyte used; however, those given below are typical: pH/4.0-6.0 Temperature/24C(18-30F) Voltage Rack/1-8 Barrel/6-18 Anode current density/Not to exceed 2.5 amp/dm^2 Cathode current density Barrel/0.1-1.0 amp/dm^2 Rack/1.0-15.0 amp/dm^2 Air agitation is preferred in most processes. Cathode rod agitation is a useful adjunct, but in itself is often not sufficient to prevent pitting at normal current densities. Continuous filtration is mandatory for all acid chloride systems available at present. Tanks and superstructures should be lined with P.V.C., polypropylene, polyethylene, or similar plastisol coatings. |
