The electrolyte consists of 6.5 oz/gal (48.8 g/l) stannous chloride, 4.0 oz/gal (30.0 g/l) nickel chloride and 7.5 oz/gal (56.3 g/l) ammonium bifluoride, and the pH is adjusted by means of ammonium hydroxide. The anodes are depolarised nickel, and a tin-nickel coating is built up rapidly on the copper at a current density of 25 A/ft^2 (2.5 A/dm^2).
After plating, the parts are rinsed and dried by exposure to a 3-min blast of hot air at 75C. |
