Note: Should a precipitate begin to appear on long-term storage, the addition of a small amount of aqueous ammonia and stirring brings the precipitate back into solution.
For each formulation, a reaction vessel capable of thorough mixing should be utilized. Caution should be exercised as the reactions are exothermic in nature.
Add the liquid citric acid and water to the reaction vessel and begin stirring. Slowly distribute the micronutrient source into the vessel being careful to avoid unnecessary clumping and allow to stir for several minutes. Cautiously and slowly add the aqueous ammonia to the mixture until the desired pH is achieved and the solution clears.
Dilute to 100% wt/wt with water.
Notes: These formulations can often be adapted to utilize many sources of micronutrients including sulfates, chlorides, and oxides. Note that Formulas No.1, 2, 5, and 6 remain at or below pH 7. This insures that little or no free ammonia will be given off allowing for easier foliar applications. |
