FORMULA No.5 Stamping and Drawing Oils 3% to 25% "Beta-Chlor" 33 in suitable viscosity mineral oil, the quantity depending upon the metal to be worked and the severity of the draw or stamping.
Blending may be done at room temperature if the agitation is sufficient; however, it is considered good practice to blend at a temperature of 120-130F.
In general oils containing "Car-A-Van" 6180 more than 1.5% S-1717 or more than 6% "Car-A-Van" 6600 or S-55L are corrosive to copper at temperatures below 150F., and should not be used on either copper or brass. "Car-A-Van" 6100, 6140, and 5900 are noncorrosive to copper in concentrations up to 10%, and may be used safely on any metal.
"Car-A-Van" 6550 and "Sulchlor" 55-L are non-Corrosive to copper up to 5%.
Anti-Foam Agent: 2% Solution of Dow Corning Fluid, 200 Series, 350 viscosity in kerosene.
0.5% of this solution is used as the anti-foam agent. |
