Disperse the "Carbopol" 940 in the dimethyl sulfoxide. This can be done with high or low shear agitation and with rapid or slow addition of the Carbopol 940. It does not swell but wets readily to produce a non-viscous, hazy dispersion.
The add the triethanolamine solution using a pumping type of agitator because the dispersion gels quickly. The gel is non-stringy, is dilutable with ethanol or water and is sparkling clear. |
