For best results the slip should be made up as follows: Mix all the BaCO3 and half the CLAY DEFLOCCULANT #5 with all the water.
Slowly add the "NYTAL" talc to the water while stirring and then allow the talc to soak as long as practical.
After soaking add the remainder of the CLAY DEFLOCCULANT #5 and all the sodium silicate. Then the ball clays and whiting are added while stirring and the batch is thoroughly mixed until a smooth slip is produced.
The amount of sodium silicate may vary due to the type of local water. |
