Carefully disperse the "Carbopol" resin in the Stoddard Solvent, and then add the amine. Little or no thickening will occur. Add the methanol rapidly with good mixing to minimize local swelling and clumping. The "Carbopol" will swell and gel the system to give a Brookfield, 20 rpm, viscosity of 1000 cps. Higher viscosities would prevail if "Carbopol" 934 or 940 was used or if increased amounts of "Carbopol" resin-amine were employed. |
