Paper Mill Slimicide: To control bacterial and/or fungal slime in pulp and paper mill systems, add 0.66 lb "Vancide" 51, by weight (8.8 fl oz) to 2.3 lb, by weight, (30.5 fl oz) per ton, dry weight, of pulp or paper produced. The "Vancide" 51 is preferably added to system by use of a suitable metering device such as a metering pump, in the beater, hydropulper or headbox, especially ahead of area where slime is located. apply an initial dose of 2.3 lb by weight (30.5 fl oz) "Vancide" 51 per short ton, dry weight, of pulp or paper. Repeat as necessary until slime is controlled. After control is obtained by initial treatment, reduce dosage to 0.66 lb (8.8 fl oz) "Vancide" 51 per short ton, dry weight, of pulp or paper produced. Systems badly fouled by slime must be precleaned before treatment. This product is not effective against algae.
