Add 208 parts water to steam-jacketed mixing tank equipped with paddle agitator. The paddle width should be slightly less than the diameter of the tank. Start agitation and heat to 200-105F. Add 100 parts Purina Protein and mix 30 min. Add 1 part sodium sulfite dissolved in 2 parts water at 180-200F. Note: Some mixing tanks have line valves set apart from agitation-if so, draw off this unmixed portion and pour into tank. Repeat throughout process. Add 15 parts borax dissolved in 75 parts water at 180-200F. and mix 30 min. Add 2 parts ammonium hydroxide. Adjust dispersion to desired solids with water and mix 10 min. At this point a bactericide such as Dowicide G is dissolved in a quantity of hot water. The quantity of dry preservative is generally 0.5-1.0% on the total weight of the dispersion.
