Dissolve the modifying waxes and resins in toluene. This can be done merely by stirring, but if a quick solutionn time is needed, heat may be used (140150F).
Add the wax/resin solution to the "Pliolite" S-7 and stir. Adjustment to 20% solids is recommended for most applications.
The formulation is then ready for use or storage. For best results, the composition should be agitated and heated (140-150F) before application.
"Pliolite" S-7 coatings can be applied to paper by using almost any conventional type of equipment, including reverse roll coaters, knife coaters, and air brushes.
After the coating has been applied, it is best to give an initial drying treatment at a temeprature of 145F or slightly higher. This moderate drying operation removes most of the solvent and thus avoids any blistering of the coating during fusion.
It must then be fused at 200-250F. Slightly higher temperatures can be used if a faster operation is required. |
