Heat the water to approximately 170F; agitate and add the ammonia.
Add the ground resin; mix and hold at temperature until the resin is in solution. If cloudy, add ammonia to clear. Adjust final pH at 8 to 8.5 and cool.
Bleached Solution: The addition of 4 to 5% of 35% hydrogen peroxide on the weight of the "Shanco" 334 Resin produces solutions of substantially paler color. Such bleached solutions maintain their light color on extended aging. The hydrogen peroxide should be added after the resin has dissolved and the batch should then be mixed for 15 to 20 minutes at 170F. |
