Diatomaceous earth/11 g
Heat waxes and silicone to melt wax, and slowly stir in the cold
mineral spirits. (Warning: Flammable.) Stir in the Celite 315 at 195F
and force cool with stirring. Package when the batch starts to thicken
at 130 to 140F.
In this formulation, 3-10% kerosene may be substituted for a like
percentage of the mineral spirits to produce a cleaner and polish that
will be more effective in removing road tars.

Melt the first four ingredients together and stir in the diatomaceous earth to make a thick paste. Then add the Aminomethyl-propanol and water---mixed together and warmed to approximately 75-C---to the warm melt with very vigorous agitation. the use of a colloid mill for this operation gives excellent results. The proportions of diatomaceous earth, mineral oil, and naphtha may be varied within a reasonable range depending on the grades of the ingredients used and upon the characteristics desired in the cleaner-polish. |
