Melt the "Efton" UC, the "Durons" and Stearic acid together in one container at a temperature of 230 to 250F. In a separate container, heat the water in which the triethanolamine and soda ash have been dissolved and adjust the temperature to 205-210F. Adjust the temperature of the wax melt to about 210F by shutting off the heat while continuing to agitate. Then add the "Amsco" 46 to the wax melt and agitate until uniform and clear. To maintain solution of the waxes in the solvent, it may be necessary to reheat slightly. Next, start effective paddle or turbinetype agitation in the water kettle and slowly add the wax blend. Heat and agitate until a smooth, creamy emulsion is obtained. Cool with agitation to about 195F and pour into suitable containers. Allow the filled containers to stand undisturbed for further cooling and paste formation.
By increasing the proportion of water in this formula, a softer, creamier, yet stable product can be obtained. |
