For the most complete range of shades, "Orlon" is best dyed with
selected acid colors by the cuprous-ion method. After scouring the
material, 2.5 to 12.5% copper sulfate is added to the bath at 140F.,
followed by two fifths as much neutralized with caustic soda to a pH of
5 to 6. The dissolved dye is added and the temperature raised slowly to
the boil in 15 to 20 minutes. Dyeing is continued for 1 |
