Load stock into hot (180-190F) bath. Set cycle to insideout flow only. Close kettle. Run 5-10 minutes to clear air from top of kettle.
Add Glaubers salt, "Tanaterge" D-6, and leveling agent ("Tanapel" CD 2-3 parts). Dissolve cationic dyes in acetic acid and add to the hot bath. Adjust pH to 4.5-5.5 with acetic acid. Run 5 minutes at 180-190F.
Then heat at 1-2F per minute to the dyeing temperature. Run 30-60 minutes and sample for shade. Adds, where required, can be made at 190F. After adding dye, run 5 minutes at 190F. Heat to boil and run 20 minutes. When on shade, cool slowly by overflow rinsing to 160F, then drop bath. For heavy shades, rinse again in warm water. |
