Note: Based on the chart, the addition of 5% gilsonite to an 85-100 pen. asphalt cement will reduce the penetration to 50-60 pen.
The heated aggregate and pulverized gilsonite is added to the pug mill first, followed by the required amount of 85-100 pen. asphalt. the laying requirements, i.e. transportation life, of the curbing mix is about the same as for a typical hot mix paving material. |
